I see some of the reviews showed less than positive because during this very trying time the process of becoming a donor entailed a lot more questions than most people are not aware of, I was one of them. Taryn LaSmith is an exceptional transplant coordinator. She took the extra time and explained the process. In turn I have now shared my experiences with others. So hopefully they won't be caught off guard as I was. It is an exceptional program and can help so many others in need.

After the passing of my father, a representative from Gift Of Life contacted me about possible tissue and organ donation. Kyle the representative who I spoke to was very compassionate and respectful. We went over all the questions that needed to asked and answered and I never once felt an invasion of privacy.

My father who was a recipient and who is now become a donor. My father would have been so thrilled to be able to donate anything to this organization.

I received a beautiful certificate in honor of my father’s donation. In addition there was a very lovely book. I found this whole process to be very comforting and heart warming.

What is this place...my father passed away on a Friday night..no sooner than my family and I came home from the hospital and tried to get some sleep my phone rang at 11pm. Again at 12:30am followed by a text message..5 am phone rings again. Finally I got the strength to answer and it was some woman talking about tissue donation. I couldn't believe it. I told her how dare she, I just lost MY FATHER!!!! And you have the audacity!!!! I haven't slept in a week and you have the nerve to ring my phone non stop about this! Where is the sympathy and compassion in this world!? If he wanted to be a donor he would've signed up to be one!!!! You all are a disgrace. And should be ashamed of yourselves!!!!!!

Today we learned a very important lesson, never become an organ donor!!!! When a loved one passes the last thing you want to do answer questions for an hour about health and habits of a loved one. To make matters worse the person showed no empathy simply acted as another telemarketer. One of the worst experiences of my life!!!

When my husband Warren unexpectedly passed away almost 7 years ago I was in shock. Someone from Gift of Life called me that evening and spoke to be with such caring and concern. They took their time and explained everything to me. Whatever I could donate to help others I did. At least Warren could help others even in death. This organization is just amazing.

My family and I were horrified to hear that a Gift of Life staffer called my mother on her cell phone at 2:30am after my father (her husband of 52 years) passed away in the hospital earlier that night. The call was out of the blue and the self-righteous and sanctimonious GoL representative kept pressuring her to fill out paperwork that would take "only 30 minutes." 30 minutes in the middle of the night after losing a spouse with no preparation or context?! It upset her so much that she couldn't sleep, and of course she hadn't slept the night before because my father was dying. The next morning at 11am, another GoL person called her and harassed her again. No means no. We are absolutely dumbstruck by how insensitive and obnoxious representatives of this organization have been to our mother after her devastating loss.

I am a Multi-visceral Transplant recipient, I recieved a Liver, Stomach, Pancreas, intestinal Transplant w/splenectomy , through Gift of life I get to volunteer in educating others about Organ Donation and Registration, i get to share this amazing journey i have been on. The stafe and other volunteers are a great group of people i get to interact with.
