Went to a woman empowerment event and it was terrible. I called before going, and I was told to go ahead and join the event. I showed up at 10:30 am, event was from 9am-12pm. When I get there I am given a dirty look by all the organizers, and they proceed to tell me they are overcapacity and there is no space. I was there for 10 min and walked out. As I walk out one of the organizers hands me a "gift bag", inside the bag it's just make up!. How does that empower a woman. ?

I also called their office to make an apmt with the lawyer, which they promote in the radio station. The first time I called they said the lawyer would give me a call left my information with receptionist. I called 2 weeks later and now I'm told it's a $40 consultation.

Overall very disappointing to see a non-profit not performing the way they promote.

The place itself is very good and they get the job done and I would recommend but the receptionist is very terrible because I called her to ask her question and make an appointment but she was very rude and was rushing to hang up and when I asked her another question to clarify she got mad. I then commented if she was mad and she said no I’m not mad in an annoyed tone to which I replied to put me with another receptionist and she said to go somewhere else. Very rude

Went to the event on 12/17/22, and was completed ignored and disrespected by the event workers. The mission statement says inclusive, but as a black parent, the man handing out toy tickets skipped over me and my child in line. There was no compassion or patience for my autistic son, and I left without any of the giveaways. Very disappointed in what I assumed would be for all residents. Avoid at all costs if you're not Latino.
