My mom was a resident at Summerfield, and I highly recommend them due to their excellent care for all of their residents. Summerfield is a well thought out community and setup for only memory care, which allows the focus on each individual resident as they go through their journey. The staff are well equipped in their abilities to provide excellent and compassionate care. Also, everyone is supportive for family members as you navigate placing your loved one in their new home. It was wonderful to see my mom engaged in activities and being welcomed into her new surroundings with ease and understanding. We are very thankful that Summerfield provided such a wonderful, safe and supportive environment. Summerfield will always have a special place in our hearts.

I canā€™t say enough about the wonderful care and attention that the staff at Summerfield gave to my mom, Esther. She lived there just 7 short months, but all the nurse techs treated her like family. They were very prompt and patient in answering all my questions and requests. And they were especially so kind and loving in all of their interactions with her. I highly recommend Summerfield.

Somerford place was truly a blessing to our family. When it became time to move my mom into a facility with a higher level of care, the stress was enormous surrounding this decision. The staff at Somerford place were kind and supportive. They helped us make a quick and relatively painless transition. They went above and beyond to make my mother feel at home from the minute she stepped foot through their door. Leslie and Peggy were a joy to work with. Any concern that I had they were quick to address and worked to find a compromise for all. We received regular updates from the nurses and staff on my mom's condition. As her health declined, I was able to transition my mom right to hospice care while maintaining an environment and people that she had grown to know and love. My husband and I are both physicians and we truly could not recommend this facility with any higher regards. They put so much time and effort into caring for our loved ones when we are no longer able to provide care safely.

When my mother in law was diagnosed I looked for a facility that would have different levels of care so that as the disease progressed she would be able to remain at one location. Somerford has provided an engaging day program when she was independent which included painting, holiday celebrations, games, socialization, and memory focused activities. Somerford is now providing her with the best live in care. Everyone is so friendly and caring. Peggy Massey and Leslie Anderson as well as the receptionists, nurse, and all other staff I've encountered are always so welcoming. Not only have they done everything to help my mother in law adjust but Peggy and Leslie have been so understanding and kind to us as we adjust. I never feel like a burden when calling to ask questions or to check in on how my mother in law is doing. Moving a loved one into a care facility is a difficult decision but we know that she is receiving the best care. She is happy, active, socializing, and well groomed. Somerford has allowed us to step back from the stress of being the primary caregivers so that we can focus on enjoying our time with her. We are so thankful to everyone at Somerford for the great care they are providing my mother in law and the peace of mind they are providing us.

mother went to Somerford Place just before Thanksgiving. Transitioning her there from her previous home was easily done due to the staff and support we received from Leslie and Peggy. In the days to follow more staff and the routine for her living there developed and the family feels she is in the right environment to meet her needs. The facility is beautiful and well maintained. The staff are very caring and welcoming. Recently mom's needs changed and she is currently getting "comfort care" The Somerford staff and the Hospice program continue to provide our mom and family with excellent care and support.

In April, we moved my mom from another facility after a myriad of concerns. It is very scary to trust anyone with your very vulnerable loved ones, who do not have the ability to speak up for themselves. Thankfully, it was the best move we could have made.

The layout of the beautiful property, with four cottages of around 15 residents each, gives it such a homey feel. The care staff and nurses are hard-working, attentive, and most importantly consistent; meaning the same small group of providers are there in that cottage routinely. It makes a huge difference in how they are able to interact with residents and their families. Meals are healthy and mealtimes feel peaceful, like eating dinner with your family. The chef is happy to accommodate needs/requests to ensure that residents are getting enough nourishment, as the simple task of eating becomes more challenging through the stages of Alzheimerā€™s disease.

While the rooms are nice and cozy, they arenā€™t in them very often! Residents are encouraged to attend activities in the morning and afternoon with residents from all four cottages, so they have the chance to make lots of friends. The activities directors have been amazing with my mom, and we are very impressed that the calendar is always full. Additionally, there are activities planned that include residentsā€™ families. We attended a wonderful Motherā€™s Day brunch, where we were able to connect with other families like us facing this terrible disease. There is lots of room to roam, walk and spend time with your loved one outside in the nice weather.

Finally, the Executive Director, Leslie Andersen, has built a loving, compassionate, respectful culture among staff and residents. This is evidenced by the number of years many of the employees have been there. It is demanding work and employees must feel valued to be this dedicated to their residents and each other.

Thank you, Summerfield.

My mom has been very happy and well cared for during her respite stays at Summerfield. It has a home-like atmosphere with small pods of approximately 15 residents so itā€™s not too overwhelming. The staff is very attentive with nurses responsible for medicationā€˜s and delivering them to patients.
I really like that my mom has many activities to keep her busy during the day. She enjoys her private room and bathroom. I really canā€™t say enough good things about it, it has been a very pleasant experience. Everyone working there has been so helpful to meet our needs. We will visit again soon!

I am so impressed with everyone at Somerford Place. The management team is super-sensitive to my mother's needs. The caregivers are compassionate and loving. My mom is happier than I have seen her in a long while. I no longer worry if mom is being cared for because I am confident Somerford actually takes care of all their residents. Dementia is a terrible disease that is difficult to manage because I still work full time. Now I don't have to worry if mom is remembering to eat or go to the bathroom or a multitude of other things that she may need throughout the day. She has made new friends, plays games and even dances! Many thanks to everyone at Somerford Place! I appreciate all of you.
